Upon arrival at the airport, we decided to go for a nice leisurely lunch (it was still breakfast time, really, but having been up for 7 hours already, we were famished), so we found
Turns out you have to take a train to that section of gates!!! So, we lugged the baggage up the escalator and onto the Skytrain. The airport train in Miami provides an excellent view of the many aircraft, and it was exciting to be so close to so many planes.
Upon arrival at D-11, we found a suspiciously empty seating area. Soon thereafter, an announcement came over the PA. Our gate, as it turned out, had been changed to the other end of the terminal. So, it was back to the Skytrain, though considerably slower, with more prodding required. (The boys’ lack of sleep was beginning to manifest itself, and Simon was complaining of a tummy ache!)
Somehow we made it, though, and are now cruising at 35 000 ft. The boys are asleep (Alex before takeoff), and I am about to try to catch a few more Zzzz myself, or at least unwind a bit to a little Mozart while the unhappy toddler a few rows back wails in the background.
