After ringing in the new year overlooking the city, enjoying the magnificent fireworks display with the locals, we made a pit stop back at the hotel to Skype with Trevor and the boys, who were just starting a movie before ringing in the new year a few hours after us (I'm sure that's juice in their glasses in the photo above!!! Right Trev?!) Then it was off to Bairro Alto, a multi-block collection of tiny clubs and bars, where people spill out into the streets, mingling, chatting, enjoying a drink and one another's company.
It is said that the temperature at "body level" on the streets in Bairro Alto is noticably higher than if one holds ones hand a few feet above the crush of people in the night air!
