After... Finally!

Wow!  I had forgotten the "uncovering" principle in setting up a new classroom.  You know, where you go in the first day (see previous blog entry), feel totally overwhelmed, but then start chipping away at it and start to see progress for about 20 minutes before you are

Ms. Teschow's desk is not quite ready yet...

suddenly inundated with 57 MORE jobs that emerge as you begin digging your way out from the mess you made when you started setting up the room?!  (One example of this would be me trying to file a pile of "teacher" papers in my cabinet, and coming across a "first week activities" file that reminded me of all the things I usually do with the student during week one, and which I have not at all prepared for yet, lol!  Or walking into a colleague's room for a brief "break", and discovering that he has a whole bulletin board of Learning Skills stuff that I hadn't even thought about because they didn't exist in the same format the last time I was in a classroom, so I immediately go back to my room, disregard the table group signs I had been prepping before I foolishly wandered off, and head to my computer to print out the learning skills bulletin board set and in so doing, come across a math data set I had wanted to put into a ppt format for the first day of school, but then remember I don't yet have a computer to hook up to my LCD on wheels, which reminds me I need to check the document camera to see if it's working, and then I realise I've forgotten to email myself the first day "welcome" sign I had prepped for the students....   and so on!)

But, two student teachers, one husband,  one awesome friend and five days later, the room is looking considerably more ready.  Now... all that's left is to attack my desk, which is still covered in paper!!!

Another few hours should do it, and then I am going CAMPING for the weekend!!!!!  And that's that!
