Twins/Triplets - Boxing Day 2011
Thanks
to the generosity of Supperworks Queensway, who provided a whole Christmas meal
at half price, and to several local
TPOMBA members, who donated funds for groceries and gifts, and also to the
ongoing commitment of a family of “strangers” who sends a parcel each year, we
were able to deliver Christmas to Vida, Kofi and their brood of five boys
(10-year-old twins and 6-year-old triplets) this holiday season.
Volunteer Karen dropped the first batch off on the 24, so the kids would have something to open Christmas morning. Then, our family had the privilege of spending Boxing Day with them, and sharing a meal as well as exchanging gifts.

The delight on the boys’ faces, and the joy on Mom’s face, as they opened their gifts, was something to behold. Since they so rarely have new things of their own, the brand new backpacks stuffed with shirts, socks and school supplies, and the lego and other toys were *very* well received! Mom looked great in her new winter coat, as did Dad in his soccer jacket.
Although annual events like this are just a drop in the bucket, they nevertheless make a significant difference in the life of this grateful family.
This year, we raised enough money to once again send the older two boys to Winter Camp at the Humber Arboritum, an adventure they will talk and write about for months to come, and which will help build schema about social settings, animals, plants and nature, and about travel which they will draw on in a variety of school activities now and in the future.
Next year, we’d love to send the triplets as well. But funding and transportation continue to be two major challenges for this family. Will you consider helping? If you can offer the gifts of time, transportation or money, please contact
