But before our little vacation from reality ends, I will post these final few photos, followed by a list of things I learned on my mini-break out west...

1. At over 5000 ft ASL, Lake Louise is one of Canada’s highest fully populated elevations.
2. When you are not used to living at that elevation, even light exercise can become challenging -- walking back from dog-sledding yesterday, for example, along a very slightly inclined path, left me short of breath!
3. The effects of alcohol are also influenced by the altitude (no e.g. needed here, lol!)
4. Each mountain has a different name.
5. The people who choose to live there love the mountains and seem to “need” them as much I love the water and seem to “need” it!
6. Traditional snowshoes come in all shapes and sizes, depending on which tribe developed them, and for what use, from the long, pointy “willow” snowshoe of Ontario, to the big, round “bear paw” found in parts of Alberta.
7. The snow in the Rockies is drier than the snow in Ontario – it’s nearly impossible to make a snowball with Alberta snow!
8. My mother and her best friend, Jeanette, took a road trip to the Rockies when they were in their early twenties.
9. The weather can change so fast that one minute you are looking up into the mountains, and the next, you are looking at a wall of grey, the mountains having suddenly vanished into the fog!
10. Dog sledding is awesome!!!
