I never thought I'd say this, but with any luck, they're just bedbug bites, still a pain, but not a communicable desease that would prevent our travel to Honduras on Saturday morning!!!
Or maybe it's just exema. (fingers crossed)
Simon's tummy is covered with red dots. Okay, well not "covered" exactly, but the three polkadots look suspiciously like chicken pocks - crap!

Packing and prep has begun in earnest for the trip on Sat. Space is at a premium as we decide which letters and donated resources will go into whose bag and negotiate what "must" come and what can stay behind. (Six‐year‐old boys' priorities are sometimes a bit different than 37-year‐old workshop facilitators', when it comes to travel, hehe.)
This evening at our B.Ed.
I'm intrigued by the doors opened by the advent of the Internet.
I am in the process of making a new friend, and were it not for Internet, I might never have discovered how funny, bright and interesting she is! Her emails are engaging, lively and rich with salient language. Truly a delight to read, which is kind of interesting, because Nothing quite like being woken up by blasting music at 3-o-clock in the morning from a car in the parking lot that keeps blaring the same bass line over and over and over and over and over.... MAN! It's not even good music!
Our family's been watching the classic Wizard of Oz movie... the one that made "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" famous. Rediscovering it as an adult has been tremendously rewarding, and has also reignited an interest in the music.
Here's a Keith Jarrett version, at La Scala: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk6KdAFUPOU Worth lying on the couch with your eyes closed for, IMHO. Gotta' love Kindergarten!!! I keep learning new things about what they can and can't (yet) do. This morning I attempted a kinaesthetic "printing" activity....
Well, I could have made snow angels, or studied flight stuff, but I decided to spend part of my snow day updating my resume online as well as adding even more to the teacher resource section of this website. In particular, several assessment resources are now online -- hope you find them useful! :)
Inspired by the impending snow day, I have finally updated some of the "Teachers" resource section of this site. Check it out - under "Services" menu at the top.
Lots of work still needs to be done, but it is a start. I'm especially proud of the Graphic Organizer page -- please take a moment to check out this section, and let me know of any broken links, general comments or suggestions for improvement. |
About Vera...After writing for several teacher and multiple birth publications, including ETFO's Voice Magazine, Multiple Moments, and the Bulletwin, Vera turned her written attention to prolific blogging for some years, including BiB, "Learn to Fly with Vera!" and SMARTbansho . Homeschooling 4 was her travel blog in Argentina. She now spends more time on her Instagram (@schalgzeug_usw) than her blog (pictures are worth a thousand words?!)
